Influencing the Decision Makers: How to Get Tech Proposals Over the Line

You’ve identified the game-changing tech.
You’ve done the research, crunched the numbers, and painted the vision.
And yet… your proposal stalls.

We sat down with Emma Dutton, MBE, to find out more about her unique background and the practical tactics she’ll be sharing at our Autumn Technology Leaders this October.

The Golden Rules of Negotiation and Persuasion: Insights from high pressure, hostile and changeable environments

At our Technology Leaders meeting this October Emma will share secrets of persuasion and influence – covering the techniques and preparation senior leaders can deploy to effectively and persuasively engage senior stakeholders and leaders.

Emma will divulge the developed and refined techniques and habits that will become part of your routine when entering into situations where you need to make a case, change minds and win support.

She’ll address common challenges tech leaders face, including:

  • Proposals stalling because the urgency isn’t recognised or the ROI isn’t clearly conveyed to the CFO or CEO.

  • Projects falling at the final hurdle after months of research, due diligence, and shortlisting the ideal solution.

  • The need for practical, proven tactics to ensure proposals are understood, accepted, and adopted at the highest level.

Get to know Emma…

Emma served as an Engineer Officer in the RAF before transitioning to the influence capability of Military Intelligence. Emma led teams to collect life-saving information over five tours of Afghanistan and was honoured with an MBE in 2015.

After a realisation that the same skills and methodology used to influence the Taliban were just as effective with the politicians and military commanders involved in the campaigns, Emma co-founded the Applied Influence Group. The goal was for others to benefit from everything learned influencing stakeholders under such unique and extreme conditions.

Applied Influence now supports some of the biggest technology businesses in the world, accelerating growth by helping them build the right customer relationships with the right people.
